Alanis Morissette
Alanis Nadine was born in Ottawa, Canada, on the 1st of June 1974. Alanis' Greek name is an empathetic version of her father's name, Alan. She has two siblings: Chad (Alanis twin) and Wade. She first started playing guitar and piano when she was just 21. In 1986 Alanis recorded a hit single, Fate Stay with me (b-side: Find The Right Man). In Canada, Alanis recorded two dance-pop albums: Alanis (in 1991) and The Time Is The Time in 1992. In the year she turned 18, she moved from NYC to Toronto which is where her collaborative efforts with songwriters and musicians failed. Then, in 1994, she found the right partner: the producer and songwriter Glen Ballard, who had already worked with many performers, including Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson and Barbra Streisand. She moved to LA when she was 19 years old. Madonna made her debut with "Jagged Little Pill", a song, on June 13 in 1995. Alanis had found an autobiographical, extremely personal method of writing songs. JLP was sold to around 30 million copies around the world which makes it the top-selling female album. This is also the third most-loved album ever. She went through an emotional crisis (she might have considered not releasing another album) and took a tour in India.
