Awkwafina
Awkwafina, an American singer and actress began with humorous rap tracks which dealt with the subject of sexuality and race. Her career expanded to Hollywood when she dropped an album of raps. Nora Lum began her musical career as a musician on the trumpet. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the daughter of Chinese immigrants as well as Korean immigrants. Additionally, she was given classical and jazz training later becoming a hip-hop teenager. While in college, she took classes in journalism and women's studies. Then, she even had some time learning Mandarin at the University of Beijing. It wasn't until she began focusing on music until after she graduated. After gaining viral fame on the Internet the track My Vag was a reaction to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick. It eventually made its way onto the album she released, Yellow Ranger. The album featured other hit songs that went viral, such as the body-positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC Bitche$1. The track that was the last one to be connected directly to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. As a musician and an author as her credentials, she determined to pursue acting in a third project. Apart from the early television programs like Girl Code and Tawk, she's been featured in movies like Neighbors2Storks, and Bad Rap. In 2018 she landed major roles in a variety of high-profile movies like Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. Her EP came out, In Fina We Trust in June of that year.
